Miyu Yamada《Window》1,167×910×50 Acrylic,mixed media on canvas 2024

In 2023, Yamada held her first overseas solo exhibition ‘HOME’ at the gallery ‘SHABI WORKSHOP’ in Seoul, South Korea, receiving favorable reviews, leading to her current solo exhibition at Art Busan.”

Amidst the occurrence of events in the 21st century that still make us want to avert our eyes, we feel uneasy about the uncertainties and unknowns ahead. In our daily lives, we are constantly searching for something, striving to grasp the intangible and uncertain within our interactions with others. For me, painting is not only a bridge connecting with society but also an act of blending and digesting conflicting elements like self and others, emotions and reason. – Miyu Yamada

In this exhibition, we will showcase approximately 20 new pieces created specifically for Art Busan. Please look forward to it.

Concept

When we learn of the dizzying events happening outside our homes, we feel a sense of déjà vu, like looking at a long picture scroll, and at the same time, we become aware that we are always being watched from above.
It’s like when you look into the baby monitor you installed at home for your child, it feels like a gaze of compassion directed at the entire space, or it feels like you’re being watched over by the moonlight shining into the room from the window. Brings a sense of comfort.
In this work, the entire painting is illuminated by bluish moonlight as a way of imagining the story from a bird’s-eye perspective, and within that light, the inseparable relationship between the girl and the animals is depicted from a close-up perspective.
