Concept

Koga Miura centers his art practice on the main themes of “contingency” and the intentional versus the unintentional.
In his paintings, he eliminates conscious artifice by using random numbers and instructions at the decision-making stage of creation, such as composition and color scheme. This results in a method to make “blurring” and “coincidence” at the time of output by the body emerge. Just as a mechanically-drawn work following instructions has its own unique expression, he finds contingency even in the most ordinary days, and continues to create works in order to affirm irregular events.
