Concept
Yuzuki’s work is inspired by the story of Kanako Mineuchi, an honor student who, fearing the caste system and collective mentality that pervade elementary and middle schools, tries to always remain “normal.” When she falls in love with her eccentric classmate Yoshizawa-kun, who lives without worrying about others’ opinions, she gradually begins to change—learning to live true to herself and unafraid of being seen.
Her works—paintings, picture books, and poems—focus on those who, within the gears of society, have been ignored, unheard, unseen, and even erased from existence.
