biscuit gallery is pleased to present Amane Ishii solo exhibition “warp” from May 5 (Thursday), 2022.
Amane Ishii solo exhibition “warp” will be held across two floors, the 1st and 2nd floors of biscuit gallery, centering on portrait works.
Ishii speaks of wanting to “throw his paintings far away.” To express that he wants his paintings to remain for many years by throwing them far away—this is a sensibility very much like Ishii. One can sense an active nuance, as if projecting works into a different tense from the present. Now, into a place different from here, like the casting of dice, the works are thrown.
Works we ordinarily see in museums and such have been cast into countless eras and yet remain in the present. Certainly, the way people see changes, and paintings age. Yet paintings, in principle, live in time longer than people. Across time and space, people encounter objects from distant ages.
The title “warp” given to this solo exhibition contains, alongside the movement between dimensions of pictorial space, Ishii’s quiet longing and wishes toward paintings that have endured the warping of spacetime in such a manner.
Paints windows, mirrors, and paintings within paintings. Like the young girls who move freely within them, paintings themselves too have warped across eras, places, and techniques. In this current age, I think daily about what kind of paintings I, who lives through culture, can create.
이번에 biscuit gallery에서는 2022년 5월 5일(목)부터 石井海音 개인전 「warp」를 개최합니다.
石井海音 개인전 「warp」는 포트레이트 작품을 중심으로 biscuit gallery 1층, 2층의 2개 층에서 개최됩니다.
石井는 자신의 그림을 「멀리 던지고 싶다」고 말합니다. 그림이 몇 년이나 남아있기를 원하는 것을, 멀리 던진다고 표현하는 것은 石井다운 감각이라고 생각합니다. 현재와는 다른 시제로 작품을 던져 넣는 듯한, 주체적인 뉘앙스가 느껴집니다. 지금, 여기와는 다른 장소로, 주사위 눈처럼, 작품은 던져져 들어가는 것입니다.
미술관 등에서 평소에 보는 작품은 그렇게 수많은 시대로 던져져 나갔으면서도 여전히 현재에 남아있는 것들입니다. 확실히 사람의 보는 눈은 변하고, 그림도 늙습니다. 그래도 회화는 원리적으로는 인간보다 더 긴 시간 속에서 살아가고 있습니다. 시간과 장소를 넘어, 사람들은 먼 과거의 대상과 만나고 있습니다.
개인전에 붙여진 타이틀 「warp」에는 회화 공간의 차원을 오가는 것과 함께, 그렇게 시공간의 왜곡을 견디어 온 회화에 대한, 石井의 은밀한 동경과 소원이 느껴집니다.
