biscuit gallery Karuizawa Residency
A residency for artists to focus on practice and reflection, set in the natural surroundings of Kyu-Karuizawa.
biscuit gallery Over/Under Karuizawa Residency opens in the summer of 2026, on Tennis Court Street in Kyu-Karuizawa, Nagano. Arranged over two floors — an exhibition space on the ground floor and an artist-in-residence facility above — it operates as a base to support artists' residencies within the natural setting of Karuizawa.
The programme is built around collaborative exhibitions between international and Japanese artists. Beyond Tokyo, free from the tempo of the art market, we aim to cultivate international dialogue that unfolds at its own pace.
This residency is intended for artists represented by biscuit gallery and for artists and art professionals introduced through the gallery; we do not accept open applications for residency-only stays. For projects that include a collaboration between international and Japanese artists, or an exhibition at biscuit gallery, we welcome proposals from artists and curators. If you are interested in an integrated residency-and-exhibition project, please reach out through our contact page.
