Concept
Inspired by my interest in horror films and ghost stories, I focus on how people continue to feel unease and fear from scary stories even while understanding them to be fiction. By painting models that I create myself using styrofoam boards and paper clay based on photographs of other people’s rooms, I attempt to imply “the presence of something lurking in a space where living creatures could not exist” on the canvas, and to evoke the unease and unstable emotions that lie beneath everyday landscapes.
