Concept

I create works by cutting out illustrations of masterpieces from catalogues and reference books, combining collage and oil painting. I depict scenes as if the figures from masterpieces have appeared in landscapes within a radius of several tens of meters from my daily life.
For me, masterpieces feel more real as reproductions in art catalogues and reference books rather than as the original artworks themselves.
Starting from my own experience of learning art through such reproductions, I create works while exploring how artworks that have remained in history intersect with everyday life and how they connect to my current sensibilities.
