biscuit gallery (Shinjuku), a contemporary art commercial gallery located in Shinjuku Ward, will hold the first solo exhibition “small, everyday wonders” by contemporary artist Murayama Cocona from Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Murayama continues to create works using multifaceted methods including three-dimensional pieces, photography, and drawing, taking as her motif familiar sculptural objects in contemporary times and the movements and trajectories surrounding them. Building on formative theories and color composition established in art history, her attempt to fuse existing forms with geometric shapes presents new perspectives and possibilities for dialogue in landscapes that we overlook as already known to us.
The theme of this exhibition, “small, everyday wonders,” explores the modest “small miracles, mysteries, and emotions” hidden within everyday life that subtly touch the heart.
In this exhibition, through woodwork and drawing as part of the creative process, we capture the “subtle fluctuations” hidden in daily life in tangible form. We hope that the fragments of the world captured by Murayama Cocona will intersect with the everyday lives of our viewers and become an opportunity leading to new awareness.
신주쿠구에 위치한 현대미술 상업갤러리 biscuit gallery(신주쿠)에서는 2026년 5월 13일(수)부터 현대미술작가 村山心南의 첫 개인전 「small, everyday wonders」를 개최합니다.
村山는 현대에서의 신변의 조형물과 그들을 둘러싼 운동과 궤도를 모티프로, 입체작품, 사진, 드로잉 등 다각적인 수법으로 제작을 계속하고 있습니다. 미술사 속에서 확립된 조형이론과 색채구성을 기반으로 하면서, 기존의 형태와 기하학적 형태를 융합시키는 그녀의 시도는, 우리가 이미 알려진 것으로서 간과하고 있는 풍경에 새로운 시점과 대화의 가능성을 제시하고 있습니다.
본전 「small, everyday wonders」의 테마는 일상 속에 숨겨진, 소박하고 문득 마음을 움직이게 하는 「작은 기적, 불가사의, 감동」입니다.
본전에서는 목공작품과 그 제작 프로세스로서의 드로잉을 통해 일상에 잠복한 「소박한 흔들림」을 형태로 남깁니다. 村山心南가 포착한 세상의 단편이 감상자 여러분의 일상과 교차하며, 새로운 깨달음으로 이어지는 기회가 되면 다행이겠습니다.
