Artist Statement
The brilliant “ideal” wrapped in anticipation when one wishes for something, and the dim “fiction” tinged with anxiety when its realization is threatened. The “relief” obtained when seeking love from others, and the “fear” that others might invade within oneself. In our minds, such contradictory elements constantly coexist, swallowing each other and repeating the work of refinement. The scene I imagine is fluid and video-like, yet the movement is slow, and while having variability, the weight of emotion becomes a shackle, and it is also like a still image that emanates magnetism gradually. For me, the act of layering paint is to apply layers of emotions with complex accumulated mass. Within the limited space of painting, I express the landscape of the chaotic world within people’s hearts.
