インターネットで見かけた印象的な画像や、映画のシーンなど、「どこかで見た物語」をモチーフとする。「見えたこと/見えないこと」をテーマに、油絵ならではのストロークを用いて時に忠実に再現し、時にはあいまいに塗りつぶしながら、記憶化したイメージを絵画に転換する。

Iori Nagashima is a young contemporary artist who graduated from Musashino Art University in 2020.
Concurrent with the solo exhibition “Nonfiction Image,” we will also be holding a solo exhibition by Kohei Yamada, who has been creating works together with Nagashima in the same atelier since this spring.
The exhibition will be comprised of a solo exhibition format using one floor out of three floors at biscuit gallery, as well as a floor where works by both artists are displayed together.

2020 Graduated from the Oil Painting Department, Musashino Art University.
Using as motifs striking images encountered on the Internet and scenes from films—”stories seen somewhere”—with the theme of “what is seen/what is unseen,” he converts memorized images into paintings by employing brushstrokes unique to oil painting, sometimes rendering them faithfully and sometimes obscuring them ambiguously.
