biscuit gallery will exhibit as a booth through a joint project with AWASE gallery.
In this project, titled “Echoscape,” we will select one emerging artist each from Japan and South Korea based in their respective countries, and hold a “Double Japan-Korea Two-Person Exhibition” featuring a total of 4 artists (2 Japanese and 2 Korean).
AWASE gallery will present a two-person exhibition by 澤あも愛紅 and ゴヨン, while biscuit gallery will introduce a two-person exhibition by Arashi Tanaka and Sungju Ham.
By having artists from both countries with different cultures and social backgrounds intersect through contrasting expressions, we create a space for dialogue through art that goes beyond mere “exchange.”
Each two-person exhibition is composed of approaches that differ in form and materials. Aiming for a multifaceted viewing experience, we deliberately establish in the same space not only new values born from the resonance between artworks and the intensity of individual expression, but also the “resonance” and “difference” of artists living in the same era.

Our life force exists hazily like thin snow. Incessantly pulsing heartbeats. Places of memory. Using the natural phenomenon of crystallization that changes three-dimensionally over time, I freeze information like ice and suspend time—information that should not disappear. Through the recorded sound waves of heartbeats, rain, and wind, crystals change shape, and their radiance makes the invisible visible.
Sungju Ham / ハム・ソンジュ b. 1990 / South Korea
Sungju Ham
The images that pass before our eyes are flattened by liquid crystal displays. The real world flows smoothly and flatly between the thumbs gripping a smartphone. Sungju Ham focuses on the “boundary of experiencing images” by transferring images displayed on smartphone and computer monitors to canvas through multiple processes. Collecting physical and digital images through diverse routes and using subjects familiar to him as motifs, he replaces everything on canvas through his own body without establishing hierarchies.
