Concept
Holding a certain sense of uncanniness toward nature, I explore new interpretations of “uncanniness” and “existence” through various natural objects such as wood and microfossils. Influenced by Eastern philosophy including Buddhism and animism, I create narrative paintings from experiences gained through fieldwork.
In creating works inspired by stories and myths that have captivated people since ancient times, I have developed an interest in nature worship and Japanese sensibility. Through the bizarre and strange, I attempt to perceive the world while holding animistic empathy toward natural phenomena and living things.
