Concept
Life is spoken of on the surface as something abundant, but in reality, through the gestures and actions required to live, or as their cost, it sometimes appears in ugly and grotesque forms. My view of life lies in sensing “life” not only in beautiful aspects, but also in things that appear diametrically opposed, such as decay and death. The undulating movements of blown glass and the aggregations I incorporate as motifs may sometimes appear eerie. However, through the inherent brilliance of glass, they simultaneously possess a simple beauty. I believe that my own negative view of life, when filtered through glass, transforms into a different impression, and ultimately returns to the sense that “life is abundant.”
