Concept

Taking the word “となり” (beside/adjacent) as an axis, I observe the relationships that emerge between people, objects, spaces, and materials through the process of making things.

I direct attention to subtle resonances between a single brushstroke in painting and materials such as Japanese paper, wooden frames, and light, carefully capturing that sense of “となり” (adjacency).

By re-examining beauty and subtle presences embedded in the everyday, I encourage viewers to adopt new perspectives. The work title “一筆のとなり” (The Adjacent to One Brushstroke) embodies this stance.
