Born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1982
Graduated from Tohoku University of Art and Design, Faculty of Art, Department of Fine Art, Western Painting Course in 2005
Based in Yamagata Prefecture, he focuses on the relationships between humans and nature, the West and the East, and rural and urban areas, examining conflicts, domination, and harmony from his unique perspective. Building on this, he uses abandoned houses and local features such as “snow fencing” and “yahaha ero” as motifs, expressing himself primarily through oil paintings and multiple other media. Since 2017, he has been active as a member of the organizing committee for the group exhibition “Yamagata Art Vicinity Exhibition” by artists working in Yamagata, exploring expression in a situation of accelerating economic decline and population loss. For “Reborn-art festival 2019,” he held an exhibition in the tsunami-affected urban area. He was also invited along with artist Hideki Otsuchi to the “Sapporo International Art Festival 2020,” which was canceled due to COVID-19. He researched the history of coal mining in Hokkaido and conceived an installation based on the history of Japanese modernization since the Meiji period, which was published in a record collection.
