Concept
Scribbles that I drew frequently as a child.
I never tired of drawing people’s faces no matter how many times I drew them. And that hasn’t changed even now. The reason I continue to paint people is greatly influenced by my father, who works as a portrait painter. Raised surrounded by the portrait paintings my father created, I would freely imagine the lives of the people depicted in them. Unlike my father’s portrait paintings, the people I paint do not exist in reality. These are portrait paintings depicting the traces or possibilities of people who could not have existed in reality. I do not know them well. However, I can imagine their lives from their appearance. The lives of these people who can only exist within the painting.
