biscuit gallery×NISO (London) Collaborative exhibition「bridge」
biscuit gallery, a contemporary art commercial gallery located on Shoto Culture Street in Shibuya, Tokyo, is pleased to present the collaborative exhibition “bridge” in partnership with London-based gallery NISO.
The exhibition will run from Thursday, January 30 to Sunday, February 16, 2025.
An opening party will be held on the first day of the exhibition, Saturday, February 1, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The event is open to everyone, and we warmly invite you to join us.
Participating artists for the opening party: Maoka Ueda, Arashi Tanaka, and Sawako Nasu.
In September 2024, Sawako Nasu, a managed artist of biscuit gallery, held her first international solo exhibition at NISO, London.

about NISO:
Founded in 2021, NISO is committed to supporting the next generation of talents as well as rediscovering the legacy of XXth Century artists whose remarkable contributions to Art History have gone unnoticed in recent times. Located in Central London, the gallery provides a dynamic platform to present solo exhibitions and intergenerational dialogues in collaboration with artists, estates, and representing galleries.
This project is a collaborative group exhibition with NISO. From biscuit gallery, Japanese artists based in Tokyo and London will be introduced, while NISO will present international artists active in London and across Europe.

Maoka Ueda
Maoka Ueda was born in 1996 in Hyogo. She studied Art & Design in London for five years in the Foundation course at Central Saint Martins and in the BA(Hons) Graphic Design Communication at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, England.

Kenji Sakai
Born in 1996. Sakai works across various media, including oil painting, printmaking, and sculpture. His practice explores the existence and transformation of individuals and groups, delving into deeper self-awareness. Through the use of geometric expressions, he gives form to concepts such as society and emotions, reinterpreting them in unique ways. Currently, he is based in London.

Hidetaka Suzuki

Daniel Brusatin
Born in 1988 in Colombia.
Daniel studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, driven by a deep interest in materials and production techniques. Later moved to Milan to pursue a second degree in Design and Applied Arts. Worked under Brian Clarke, receiving instruction in stained glass, ceramics, and architectural art.

Jean-Philippe Dordolo
Born in 1981 in Orange, France. Currently based in London, UK.
His work revolves around the theme of “grotesque,” exploring concepts such as isolation, transformation, and the fragility of perception through the manipulation of space and ambiguous narratives.

Guy Haddon-Grant
Born in 1986 in the United Kingdom.
He studied at Camberwell College of Arts and then spent two years in Florence researching the techniques of Renaissance masters.
Using materials such as charcoal, candle soot, wax, plaster, steel, and wood, he creates works that tell stories in dialogue with one another.

Nicky Hodge
She studied Fine Art and Critical Theory at Central Saint Martins and began her artistic practice. In 2015, she obtained a postgraduate diploma in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College while also working as a curator for the Government Art Collection. Since 2018, she has dedicated themselves to her artistic practice full-time.

Mateo Revillo
Born in 1993 in Spain, currently based in Paris.
His work is inspired not only by contemporary abstract expression but also by ancient and Mediterranean civilizations, unfolding within a mystical and ambiguous realm.
By traversing a vast timeline that connects primitive frescoes to the disruption of rectangular formats proposed by Minimalists, his creations evoke a chaotic, spontaneous, and untamed world.
Uchercie
Earned an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London.
Published the photo book Unconsciously and has exhibited at galleries worldwide, including the Rencontres d’Arles, Art Basel, Somerset House, and the Saatchi Gallery.
Their work explores the intersections of cognitive architecture, collective subjectivity, cybernetic feedback, and spirituality.

C. Lucy R. Whitehead
Born in 1991 in Liverpool, UK, and currently based in London.
Earned a BA in Drawing from Camberwell College of Arts and an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, where he was awarded the Basil H. Alkazzi Scholarship.

This marks the first-ever gallery collaboration exhibition for both biscuit gallery and NISO.
We invite you to experience this exhibition that bridges Tokyo and London.
It is a great honor for us at biscuit gallery to collaborate with NISO on this gallery partnership, marking our first-ever gallery collaboration project.
We titled this exhibition “bridge” not only to signify the connection between our two gallery hubs in London and Tokyo but also to symbolize the exchange and development of art that this exhibition aims to foster.
While the proliferation of the internet and online information sharing has made the world feel smaller, we believe that the value of receiving, experiencing, and exchanging information directly and in person remains significant, even as we step into 2025.As galleries, we are the ones building this bridge, but we hope that the participating artists and everyone who views this exhibition will use this bridge to explore new horizons and imagine the future of art, each in their own way, and enjoy the experience to its fullest.
