Open Call Announcement「grid next : 2026 – Emerging Artists Showcase」
biscuit gallery (Shinjuku), a commercial contemporary art gallery, will be holding its open call exhibition “grid next,” following the strong response and numerous applications received in previous editions.
This third edition, titled “grid next : 2026 – Emerging Artists Showcase,” will once again be jointly organized with AWASE gallery, continuing the collaborative format established in the previous exhibition.
This exhibition, “grid next: 2026,” is a project that invites applications from art students and artists who have not previously exhibited at biscuit gallery. The exhibition will be held in Nudge Field (Shinjuku), which also houses biscuit gallery and AWASE Gallery. A total of approximately 25 artists are expected to exhibit in three exhibition rooms.

【Application Information】
How to apply: Please fill out the application form.
Number of artists to be exhibited: Approximately 25
Application period: December 25, 2025 – April 30, 2026
Results: Artists will be notified by the end of May. *Applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and successful applicants will be contacted accordingly.
【Application Requirements】
・Follow biscuit gallery and AWASE gallery on Instagram
・Eligible to artists who have not previously exhibited at biscuit gallery or AWASE gallery and who are aiming to pursue a professional career in the arts.
・Open to students or people below the age of 40.
・Open to artists working in two-dimensional, three-dimensional, video, or related media, whose works can be exhibited within the gallery space. The number of works to be exhibited will be discussed individually.
・For applicants residing in Japan, the artist or a representative must be able to install the works, and remove and collect works after the exhibition period.
・Applicants must submit a CV including reference images closely related to the proposed exhibition works, an artist statement, etc., via the application form.
・Submitted works must be new, previously not exhibited works and available for sale.
・The placement of works during the exhibition is at the discretion of the gallery.
・No application fee or exhibition fee is required.

In addition, from this exhibition, we have prepared a special opportunity in which one participating artist will be selected to hold a solo exhibition.
【Information about the Award】
Based on visitor votes, social media user response, and judging by directors from both biscuit gallery and AWASE Gallery, one exhibiting artist will be awarded the right to hold a solo exhibition. *The 2025 winner was Momoka Ota.
