Concept

Miyu Yamada creates works that reflect the existence of those caught in the interstices of shifting eras and social currents. The self and other are in constant flux, unable to retain a fixed form. To embody this uncertainty, she uses sand as a medium, a symbol that oscillates between city and nature, spirit and matter, and the verbal and non-verbal elements of communication.
