Overviews
I create oil paintings based on doodles and drawings I make in notebooks and sketchpads. I use thinned oil paints that soak into the ground, creating soft and layered surfaces.
My goal is to capture the same sense of speed and spontaneity as the lines in my drawings when translating them into oil painting.
By diluting the paint and letting the white of the ground show through, or by changing the type of fabric or ground, the colors and textures of the paint vary. I enjoy and pay close attention to these subtle material changes as I paint.
