【Duo Exhibition】Akiko Horio and Sawako Nasu “Fumetsu”

biscuit gallery will present a duo exhibition titled “Fumetsu” (means immortality in Japanese) featuring contemporary artist Akiko Horio and painter Sawako Nasu, starting from Sunday, June 15, 2025.

This exhibition will mark the inaugural show at biscuit gallery’s new space in “nudge field,” located on the 8th floor of the Matsui Building in Shinjuku, following the gallery’s previous operations in Shoto, Shibuya.

In this exhibition, Sawako Nasu, the artist whom biscuit gallery has been working with on an ongoing basis, will present her first exhibition together with Akiko Horio, a former member of the Gutai Art Association, who has consistently pursued her own unique minimalist aesthetic.

This exhibition offers a platform for dialogue between female artists from different generations and aims to present a new perspective by re-examining the relationship between space and artwork.

Akiko Horio (Contemporary Artist)

Born in Tokushima City in 1937.
Graduated from Tokushima University School of Nursing in 1959. After working as a nurse at Tokushima University Hospital and later at Hyogo Cancer Center, she began creating artworks around 1962. In 1967, she exhibited at the “Gutai Newcomer Exhibition” and became a member of the Gutai Art Association in 1968.

Sawako Nasu (Painter)

Born in Tokyo in 1996.
Completed the Master’s Program in Oil Painting, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2023.
